Cain F by Oliva

The Cain F is the latest offering from Sam Leccia and the Oliva Cigar Family. Billed as a Straight Ligero the Cain F (the “F” stands for Fuerte, meaning strong) is blended with three Habano Seed Ligeros, recognized as the most full-flavored Ligero available. Ligero comes from the top of the tobacco plant and is considered the most powerful leaf due to its direct exposure to the sun and concentration of nutrients.

Benji Menendez Partagas Master Series

The Partagas label is certainly one of the storied brands in Cuban cigar lore, and since the late 1970s has continued to flourish from its base in the Dominican Republic under the General Cigar Company umbrella. Its latest offering is the Majestuoso, a limited-edition — 5,000 boxes for the U.S. market — creation of the Benji Mendendez Partagas Master Series. The Majestuoso is the first of the series named for Menendez, one of the industry’s legends who has been creating cigars for nearly 60 years.

The Gurkha cigar brand, started in 1989 in the Dominican Republic, contains a wide and sometimes confusing variety of blends, strengths and sizes. Known more for their intricate humidors and product presentation, the majority of their cigars are actually made by the Toraño family in Honduras, where the company moved most of its production in 2007.

Origen by J. Fuego

Jesus Fuego, known for making such legendary cigars as the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 and 1992, only recently began selling cigars under his own name. His cigars that you may have already heard of are the Delirium, the Grand Reserva Corojo No. 1, and the 777. The Origen, Fuego’s latest offering, was originally released in 2009 in limited quantities and sizes. The entire Origen line is now available to the masses.

Liga Privada No. 9 by Drew Estate

Mention Drew Estate to your average cigar smoker and he (or she) will likely think of the maker’s infused products, such as the Acid line. And chances are, you either love the fruity/herbal smokes or you hate them.

But Liga Privada No. 9 is an entirely different animal. This cigar was originally intended for the personal use of Steven Saka, DE’s president, and fellow company execs. The creators went through nine unique blends before Saka found the one he wanted, and he ultimately decided it was too good to keep a secret. Hence, Liga Privada (translated, “Private Blend”) No. 9 was born.

La Aurora 107

Choosing to celebrate the 107th anniversary of something might strike some people as odd, but then again, anything that has been around for 107 years must have something going for it. In this case, it’s the cigar maker La Aurora, and we should all be thankful the good folks there marked the 107th of operation in the Dominican Republic earlier this year with a gem of a cigar. It’s called “La Aurora 107,” of course, and this medium- to full-bodied smoke delivers a flavorful and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

The E.P. Carrillo Edicion Limitada 2010, Cigar Aficionado’s #8 cigar for 2010,  is the newest release from Ernesto Perez Carrilllo Jr. and the EPC Cigar Company.
